A leading provider of IT solutions, recognized for delivering innovative and high-quality services across a broad spectrum of industries is currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join their team for a critical contract role.You will be pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux-based systems in a high-availability environment. This role requires an individual with strong expertise in Linux administration, automation, and scripting, capable of delivering robust and secure systems within a fast-paced and dynamic setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and administer Linux-based systems, with a focus on Red Hat Ecosystem (RHEL, RH Satellite, RH Insights).
  • Use Ansible for configuration management and automation tasks.
  • Develop and maintain Python scripts and other automation tools.
  • Manage and maintain highly available clusters of Linux-based systems.
  • Implement and oversee patching and reporting processes for Linux systems.
  • Apply systems security best practices to ensure robust and secure infrastructure.
  • Install and administer databases and database clusters (PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Patroni).
  • Work with cloud infrastructure, particularly Azure.
  • Manage virtualization and containerization technologies such as VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications (Required):

  • Extensive experience with Linux-based systems, ideally in the Red Hat Ecosystem.
  • Proficiency in configuration management tools, particularly Ansible.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python or similar languages.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining highly available system clusters.
  • Solid understanding of systems security best practices.
  • Work experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and Patroni.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure).
  • Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSH, etc.).
  • Proficiency in virtualization and containerization technologies.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code technologies (Terraform, OpenTF).
  • Work experience with CI/CD pipelines for testing and deployment.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging systems (Zabbix, Elastic, SolarWinds, Graylog).
  • Knowledge of server configurations, including Apache, NGINX, and databases.
  • Understanding of CDNs, SSL, and proxies.
  • Experience with JIRA and Agile methodologies.

Duration: 6 Months 

Day rate: £500PD - £550PD
