Principal Network Engineer - MSP

This leading Managed Service Provider (MSP) is seeking an experienced Senior Cisco Network Specialist to join their team for a critical project role. You will be at the forefront of network design, implementation, and troubleshooting for a fast-paced Altnet broadband provider. This role demands a hands-on leader with exceptional expertise in Cisco carrier-grade solutions and a passion for working with cutting-edge technologies. You will play a crucial role in shaping and optimizing network infrastructure, ensuring that clients receive top-tier performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and deliver network projects with autonomy.
• Design, migrate, and implement carrier-grade network solutions.
• Configure and manage Cisco ASR, NCS devices, and Firepower models.
• Troubleshoot complex issues using packet analysis.
• Develop and maintain High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), and Migration Strategies.
• Utilize and configure Network Monitoring Systems (NMS).
• Work collaboratively to implement new technologies in a fast-paced environment.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications (Required):

• Minimum of 10 years of core Cisco network experience, preferably within an Altnet broadband provider.
• Proven hands-on experience with carrier-grade Cisco ASR and NCS devices.
• Strong leadership and project delivery skills.
• Extensive knowledge of carrier technologies: BGP, OSPF/ISIS, Segment Routing, Multicast, IPv6, Firewalls, MPLS, and MPLS-based VPN solutions.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Cisco Firepower models 2130, 4112, and 1140.
• Comprehensive knowledge of OpenGear console models IM7216-2-24E-DAC-LR and IM7232-2-DAC.
• Proficiency with NMS tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, etc.).
• CCIE certification required; Cisco security certification desirable.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications (Preferred):

• Working towards multiple CCIEs or equivalent qualifications.
• Strong network security experience.
• Familiarity with PON-based infrastructure.
• Automation and scripting skills.
• Exposure to SDN.

Duration: 6 Months 

Day rate: £500PD - £550PD
