Our client is seeking a dedicated and talented Platform Automation Engineer to join their team based in Stoke on Trent.


Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of platform automation solutions for deployment, monitoring, and management of on-premise and some cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of automation practices to streamline development workflows and enhance release processes.
  • Champion the implementation and management of automation-focused CI/CD pipelines to automate platform deployment and ensure continuous integration and deployment.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Implement and manage containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes for deploying and scaling applications, emphasizing automation.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate automation into all aspects of the platform deployment and support lifecycle.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in platform automation, DevOps, and cloud-native technologies, and drive their adoption within the organisation.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role with a strong focus on automation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field would be beneficial.
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell, with a strong emphasis on automation.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure with a focus on automating infrastructure deployment and management.
  • Strong background in configuration management tools such as Ansible with an emphasis on automation.
  • Experience with source management tools.
  • Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift, with an emphasis on automation.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to automation-driven issue resolution.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • UK Security Check (SC) clearance is required for this position. Candidates must possess or be eligible to obtain SC clearance, with a view to obtaining UK Developed Vetting (DV) clearance as required.
