The leading consultancy firm is looking for a skilled Linux Engineer to join the team for an initial 6-month contract, with a strong potential for extension beyond 12 months. This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, with 3 days per week required onsite in Wokingham.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilise Linux system administration tools and processes to ensure system stability, security, and performance.
  • Manage disk partitions using LVM, RAID configuration, and handle hardware replacements when necessary.
  • Build, and manage RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) V6/7/8/9 environments.
  • Manage and maintain VMWare v7 virtualised environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Perform RedHat OS migrations and upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime and seamless transitions.
  • Configure new Linux systems and integrate them into a distributed environment using VMWare hosts.


Skills/Must have:

  • Strong experience with Linux system administration, including RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) V6/7/8/9, OS migrations, upgrades, and system customisation.
  • Proven track record in VMWare v7 management, setting up distributed environments, and administering LVM, RAID configurations, and hardware replacements.
  • Hands-on experience with vulnerability management, security tools configuration, endpoint deployment, and patching using YUM and Ansible.
  • Solid understanding of network protocols and topologies, system monitoring, and performance optimisation of CPU, memory, network, and disk utilisation.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis, incident resolution, and customer-facing IT support within a service-driven environment.
