Data Centre Technician - Data Center Solutions

Our client is a leading provider of data centre solutions with a large presence in the UK. They are currently on the hunt to hire an experienced Data Centre Technician for an initial 6-month contract. 

Contract Details:

• Duration: 6 months (Scope for extension)
• Location: Essex (Onsite)
• Commencement Date - ASAP 
• Daily Rate: £250 - £300
• Determination: Outside IR35 

The Data Centre Technician will play a critical role in ensuring all activities within the Data Centre and Access Centres adhere to their stringent procedures and industry best practices. This role involves executing tasks from project assignments or Service Now requests, following Change Control protocols, and maintaining accurate documentation. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary contact for escalating serious incidents or technical issues.
• Conduct Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) in the Data Centre, MPOEs, MMRs, and Access Centres for both internal and external customers.
• Perform daily security and access checks to ensure policies are followed and maintain Data Centre cleanliness.
• Conduct quality assurance checks in Data Centre halls and access centres.
• Document all hardware deliveries received.
• Manage Data Centre inventory (e.g., patch cables, fibre cleaning tools, cable labels) and report status.

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with hardware installation standards and copper/fibre cabling installations. Prefer certifications.
• 1-3 years of experience in a Data Centre environment.
• Basic networking knowledge, with hands-on experience in Arista, Ciena, Juniper, and Dell hardware.
• Understanding of IP networking principles.
• At least one year of experience using Microsoft Office and CRM databases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
